Next, add 6 cups of white vinegar to a bowl and slowly dissolve 1 cup of baking soda into your vinegar. So if you’re looking to do good things for your family, I think laundry is the perfect place to start! Adding vinegar to your laundry routines will whiten, brighten, reduce odors, and soften clothes without harsh chemicals. You can also scent the vinegar with your favorite essential oil, using a drop or two per cup of white vinegar. Plus, kids are messy! I feel like I’m constantly doing their laundry. White Distilled Vinegar Essential Oil (Optional) To use vinegar as a homemade fabric softener, simply add about 1/4 cup of white distilled vinegar to the rinse cycle, or use in a Downy Ball. I’m sure it’s really saving me money now that there are 5 of us. It wasn’t too time-consuming, it worked well, and it saved me money… and that was back when there were only 3 people in my family.
